Message Received

Thank you. Your note has reached the Measurement Desk and now sits in the same queue as every technical question, benchmark note and correction the desk handles.

What follows

A member of the desk reads the note, checks any figure it names against the published run note, and replies by email. A technical question is usually answered within two working days. A correction that changes a headline figure also triggers a revision note on the page that carried it.

While you wait

The pages most often asked about are the 2026 baseline, the benchmark protocol and the measurement sheet. A reader who wants to check a result should start from the protocol, because it lists the fields a run note must carry.

If a reply does not arrive

Mail occasionally lands in a filtered folder. If no reply arrives within three working days, send the note again with the same page name in the subject line, and the desk will match the two. A second copy demands nothing and helps more than a long delay.

What the desk will not do

The desk will not send a package, a file or an archive, because it hosts none. It will not give an opinion outside the subject of video compression and its measurement. It answers questions about pages, figures, run notes and the bench itself, and it says plainly when a request falls outside that ground.

How a note is routed

A note is first sorted by topic. A technical question goes to the engineer who owns the nearest page. A benchmark note goes to the operator who keeps the bench set. A correction goes to the editor on duty, who opens the run note behind the figure before replying. Every topic lands with a named person, so a note is never left in a shared pool.

What follows a correction

A correction that changes a headline figure is the slowest kind of note to close, because it is checked twice. The first pass repeats the measurement from the run note alone. The second pass reviews the revised wording against the measured spread. Only then is the page changed, with a dated note at the point of change.

Keeping the thread

Answers are sent to the email field you gave, with the page you named in the subject line. If a note concerns several pages, send the list in one message rather than several, because a single thread is easier to check and easier to close. There is no portal to reach, no reference number to quote, and nothing to remember beyond the mailbox you used.

A note on answers

The desk answers from recorded runs. Where a question falls outside the recorded set, the reply will say so and, where it can, name the clip class the desk would record next. The desk does not guess a figure, and it does not restate a vendor claim as if it were a measurement.
