Terms of Service

These terms govern the use of the Codec Lab Analytics Measurement Desk portal. Reading a page means you accept them. If you do not, simply leave the portal.

Use of the material

The prose, tables and vector figures on this portal are published for reading, study and reference. You may quote a passage or a table with a credit to Codec Lab Analytics and a link to the page it came from. You may not present the material as your own, and you may not resell it as a standalone product.

Accuracy and limits

Every figure is the result of a bench run recorded in a run note. Figures are published as observations, not as warranties. Compression results vary with source, host class and engine, so a figure that holds on the desk bench may differ on another. Use the material as a starting bracket and confirm it on your own source.

No warranty

The portal is provided as it stands, without a warranty of any kind. The desk is not liable for a loss that follows from use of the material, including a decision made on a figure before it was confirmed on the reader's own source.

External material

The portal links only to its own pages. It hosts no third-party file and embeds no third-party element. Where a photograph is used, it comes from an open image bank and is credited on the about page.

Changes

A change to these terms is dated on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised text.

Quoting a table

A table may be quoted in a paper, a report or an internal note with a credit to Codec Lab Analytics and a link to the page it came from. A quote should keep the caption and the stated conditions, because a table without its conditions reads as a stronger claim than the bench run supports.

Third-party material

Photographs on this portal come from an open image bank and are credited on the about page. A reader who reuses one of those photographs should follow the rights stated in the credit rather than these terms. Vector figures drawn by the desk may be reused with a credit to Codec Lab Analytics.

Conduct on the portal

The portal is read-only. There is no place to post, comment or upload, so there is no conduct to police beyond the note a reader sends. A note that is abusive or unrelated to the subject will be set aside without a reply.

Governing position

These terms are read in the plain sense of the words. Where a clause is unclear, the reading that keeps the desk independent and the reader informed is the one the desk intends. A revised text is dated on this page, and continued reading after a change accepts the revised text.
